GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Two weekly Southeastern Conference gymnastics honors belong to Gators. Senior All-American
Kennedy Baker is the SEC Specialist Gymnast of the Week and
Alyssa Baumann is the SEC Freshman of the Week.
This is the first honor for Baker this season and second of her career. Baumann claims her second SEC Freshman of the Week honor of 2018.
Both Gators earned their honors based on performances in Florida's win versus No. 9 Alabama last Friday.
Baker's Performance:
She waited through the entire meet to compete as Florida's final performer of the competition.
And it was worth the wait, as Baker anchored Florida's floor exercise lineup with a 10.0.
- Third 10.0 floor mark of her career (once as a sophomore, junior and now a senior)
- Third floor 10.0 in the nation this season and only perfect floor mark of the weekend
- Season average of 9.945 ranks Baker second in the nation on floor.
- 14th floor title of career and second of 2018
- 12th 10.0 mark in Florida gymnastics' 46-year history
Baumann's Performance:
Baumann scored a pair of 9.925 in Friday's meet.
- 9.925 shared second on balance beam
- Baumann's scored a 9.9 or better in half of her beam routines in 2018
- 9.925 for floor exercise routine equaled Baumann's collegiate best and took third Friday
- Baumann's scored a 9.85 or better in the last five floor routines
