Caeleb Dressel sets new SEC and UF record in 100 breast during preliminary session

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Fifteen Gators earned a spot in Saturday's finals session, including eight appearances in championships finals.
Caeleb Dressel set a new SEC Meet record and broke his own previous school record in the 100 breast, swimming an A-cut time of 51.07 to earn the top seed in the championship final. This topped the previous SEC record of 51.25, set by Nic Fink on Feb. 21, 2014.
Marco Guarente will also swim in the 100 breast final after he posted a career-best swim of 52.89 in the preliminary. Chandler Bray earned a spot in the B final, swimming a 53.26 in the morning session.
In the women's 200 fly, Hannah Burns qualified for the B final, posting a career-best B-cut time of 1:56.94. This swim surpassed her previous career-best time by over three seconds. Georgia Marris also earned a spot in the finals of the 200 fly, swimming a career-best 1:58.31 to qualify for the top seed in the C final.
The Gator men have a swimmer in each of the 200 fly finals tonight, with Jan Switkowski leading the way in the championship final. The senior recorded a B-cut time of 1:42.68 to earn the fourth overall seed. Maxime Rooney followed in the B final, swimming a personal-best B-cut time of 1:44.83 to qualify.
Grant Sanders rounded out the Gators, earning a spot in the C final with a career-best time of 1:45.77.
Two Gator women earned spots in the 100 back A final, with Sherridon Dressel leading the way with the sixth seed overall. She swam a B-cut of 52.17, which is a personal-best by just about 1.5 seconds to qualify for her first championship final. Emma Ball took the seventh overall seed in the A final, recording a B-cut of 52.23.
Sydney Sell is set to swim in the B final after swimming a B-cut of 52.68 during the preliminary session.
Three Gator men will compete in the 100 back championship final, led by Bayley Main's personal-best B-cut time of 46.55. Michael Taylor followed with the sixth overall seed, swimming a career-best 46.55 and Brennan Balogh rounded out the Gators in the A final, also notching a personal-best of 46.77.
Clark Beach earned a spot in the B final of the 100 back, swimming a career-best B-cut of 47.25 to earn the 12th seed overall.
Dalton Goss recorded the best performance for the men on platform, finishing 13th with a score of 305.30. Alex Farrow followed in 23rd with a mark of 231.30.
Tonight's finals session will start at 7 p.m. EST and is going to be streamed on the SEC Network +.
