Florida is the only school with two representatives on the China team
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Early enrollee Thayer Hall and rising junior Rachael Kramer were named to the 12-player roster for the U.S. Women's Collegiate National Team China Tour, USA Volleyball announced Wednesday afternoon.
The team will train and compete in China from May 20-31, according to the release.
Florida is the only school with two representatives. Kramer, a 2017 American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America Third Team selection, is one of three middle blockers on the roster, while Hall is one of four outside hitters.
The pair also donned the Red, White, and Blue last summer. Hall earned MVP honors and led the U.S. Women's Junior National Team to a gold medal at the U20 Pan American Cup, which qualified the Americans for the FIVB U20 World Championships. Hall was selected for that team as well, with Kramer joining the group.
Hall was named the 2017-18 Gatorade National Volleyball Player of the Year in January, closing her high school career on the highest of notes.
Kramer, who also picked up her first All-SEC accolade last year, finished the 2017 campaign tied for 13th nationally in hitting percentage (.402). Her most dominant individual performance of the season came in Florida's five-set win over No. 5 Nebraska (Aug. 26). Kramer notched 20 kills and just one error, good for a remarkable .679 hitting percentage. She was one of four players in the nation to hit better than .675 with at least 20 kills in a match last season.
The Phoenix, Ariz., native showcased tremendous improvement in terms of consistency as well. After only recording 10-plus kills in five matches and five-plus blocks in six matches as a freshman, Kramer logged 10-plus kills in 16 matches and at least five blocks in nine matches as a sophomore.
Kramer was instrumental in Florida's return to the NCAA Championship, as last season marked the second time in program history and first time since 2003 the Gators advanced that far.
Athletes were selected for the team based on a three-day tryout earlier this month, and additional rosters for the U.S. Women's Collegiate National Teams bound for Europe and Detroit will be announced in the coming weeks.
