GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Gators Assistant Coach Dusty May has been named the new head coach at Florida Atlantic, as announced by the school Thursday.
May has spent seven seasons on Head Coach Mike White's staff including the past three at Florida. The Gators have compiled a record of a 69-37 record, including back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances and a Elite Eight run in 2016.
He spent his previous four seasons serving on coach White's staff at Louisiana Tech helping the Bulldogs win three straight conference championships in 2013, '14 and '15.
"Dusty has been an incredibly important part of every aspect of our program at both LA Tech and UF," coach White said. "He's got incredible passion, has a relentless work ethic, operates with integrity and possesses family values that permeate the program. FAU has found a great coach and human being, and Dusty May found a great fit!"
In addition to his time at Louisiana Tech and Florida, May served as a full-time assistant coach at UAB (2007-09), Murray State (2006-07) and Eastern Michigan (2005-06).
In his 11 years as a full-time assistant coach, his teams have posted a 274-166 record (.623). May also spent several seasons in support roles at USC and Indiana before May landed his first assistant coaching job.
He will be introduced at a press conference on Friday, March 23, at 11 a.m. (ET).
