Shannon Kavanagh was named the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week on Tuesday, as announced by the conference office. The award is the first Conference recognition of Kavanagh's career.
Kavanagh had a career-best outing on the road against No. 24 Georgetown, tallying a career-high six points off of three goals and three assists (career-high) to lead Florida to a come-from-behind victory. The freshman assisted on the game-tying goal to
Grace Haus with 13:10 left in the game.
The Smithtown, N.Y. native tied her career-high with three ground balls in UF's close loss to No. 14 Towson, while adding one goal and two draw controls. Through 10 games, Kavanagh is tied for third among all Gators with 24 points, and ranks third on the team with 30 draw controls.
The No. 8 Gators are back in action on Saturday at noon, hosting the UConn Huskies at Donald R. Dizney Stadium.
