This is the fourth SEC Pitcher of the Week award this season for Barnhill and the ninth of her career.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Kelly Barnhill was tabbed as this week's Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week after a pair of dominant performances against South Carolina. She has now earned the award nine times over her career and fourth time this season.
Barnhill (19-1) picked up two complete-game victories over the Gamecocks and limited their offense to just a pair of hits, one run and a .045 batting average.
The junior right-hander picked up her ninth shutout of the season, 28th of her career, in the series finale to move into fifth place all-time in Florida history. She surpassed Chelsey Sakizzie (1997-'98) and is one shy of tying Delanie Gourley (2014-'17) for fourth all-time.
The Marietta, Ga. also tallied 21 strikeouts over 14.0 innings for an average of 1.5 strikeouts per inning. Over her career, Barnhill has amassed 735 strikeouts which ranks third all-time at Florida behind the likes of Hannah Rogers (2011-'14) and record holder Stacey Nelson (2006-'09).
Barnhill's 13 strikeouts in the series opener against South Carolina is the 11th time this season she has recorded 10 or more strikeouts in a game this season.
The Gators next game is scheduled for Wednesday, April 18, at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium against Florida A&M at 6 p.m.
