The Gators will take on Arkansas in Saturday's semifinals.

Florida defeated LSU, 4-2, in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals on Friday. The No. 2-seeded Gators earned the win indoors at the Goodfriend Tennis Center due to temperatures in the 40s this morning in Knoxville.

The doubles point came down to Court 2, where McCartney Kessler and Josie Kuhlman claimed the clincher, 6-4, after Court 3 went to Florida and Court 1 to LSU.

In singles action, Katie Kubicz sped to a Court 6 victory while dropping just two games. Kessler gave the Gators a 3-0 lead before LSU claimed wins on Court 4 and Court 1 to close the gap to 3-2.

Moments later, Peggy Porter provided the clinching point, wrapping up a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Luba Vasilyuk at the fifth singles position.

Match Notes

The Gators won their quarterfinal match for the 30th time in 31 SEC Tournaments.
Florida won the doubles point for the 14th time this season, improving to 13-1 when doing so.
It marked the fourth time this season that the Gators have gotten their clinching point from the No. 5 singles position.
Porter earned her fourth clinching singles win of the season.

Series Notes

Florida improved to 46-1 all-time vs. LSU, including 7-0 in the SEC Tournament.
Before today, the Gators' most recent SEC Tournament meeting vs. the Tigers was a 4-0 quarterfinal win in Baton Rouge at the 2016 tournament. The Gators went on to win the tournament that year.

What's Next for the Gators

The Gators get right back on the courts at 10 a.m. on Saturday for the SEC Tournament semifinals. Florida faces the winner of South Carolina and Arkansas' quarterfinal match, which is at noon on Friday.
In all-time SEC Tournament action, UF is 2-0 against Arkansas and 8-0 vs. South Carolina. UF last faced South Carolina in the SEC Tournament in 2011 and Arkansas in 1998.
The Gators won their meeting against both potential semifinal opponents in regular season play this year.
