Gators Host Men’s & Women’s NCAA Opening Rounds

INDIANAPOLIS – Florida's men's and women's tennis teams both were chosen as one of 16 hosts of their respective NCAA Championships first and second rounds, the NCAA Committee announced on Tuesday evening from Indianapolis.
The event will run from May 11 to 13 at UF's Linder Stadium at the Ring Tennis Complex.

The Combined Site Schedule
- The Gator women will host two first round matches on Friday, May 11 and a second round contest on Saturday, May 12.
- The Gator men will play their first round matches on Saturday and the second round on Sunday, May 13.
- The winning team from each of the 16 regionals will advance to Winston-Salem, N.C., for the NCAA Round of 16 and beyond.
The Championship Site
- This season the Wake Forest Tennis Complex plays host to the combined men's and women's tournament from the Round of 16 through the final.
- The women's Round of 16 begins on Thursday, May 17, while men's Round of 16 action commences on Friday, May 18.
Women's First and Second Rounds in Gainesville at a Glance
- The ninth-ranked Gator women received the No. 9 seed in the 64-team draw.
- Florida (18-8) faces Youngstown State (16-10), the Horizon League Champions for the fifth time in as many years, in its NCAA First Round Contest on Friday, May 11 at 2 p.m. ET.
- The other NCAA Women's First Round match played in Gainesville will be held on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. ET and features 17th-ranked Florida State (17-12) vs. North Florida (17-7).
- The winners of both first round matches will meet Saturday at 4 p.m. for the right to advance to the championship site in Winston-Salem, where the round of 16 resumes May 17.
Florida Women at the NCAA Championships
- UF has been selected to host first and second round matches every year since the NCAA Women's Championships expanded its field to 64 teams in 1999.
- With today's announcement, the Gators have earned a berth into 36 of the 37 NCAA Championships, missing only the 1986 event.
- The Gators have won seven NCAA team titles: 1992, 1996, 1998, 2003, 2011, 2012 and 2017.
- UF has advanced to at least the NCAA semifinals 24 times in the last 30 years.

- Florida played 15 of its 26 matches this season against teams that made the NCAA Tournament field of 64 and posted a 10-7 record versus those clubs.
- The Florida women's team is one of 11 SEC schools in the 2018 field.
- This is the first time the Gator women are the No. 9 seed.

- Florida (16-9) faces South Carolina State (10-6) for the third time in program history in its NCAA First Round contest on Friday, May 12 at 1 p.m. ET.
- The other NCAA Men's First Round match played in Gainesville will be held on Friday beginning at 10 a.m. and features the Miami Hurricanes (14-12) vs. the University of North Florida (13-9).
Florida Men at the NCAA Championships
- UF has been selected to host first and second round matches 14 of the 18 years since the NCAA Men's Championships expanded its field to 64 teams in 1999 (did not host in 2001, 2006, 2007 and 2015).
- Gators head coach Bryan Shelton has led the team to its sixth NCAA berth in as many years under his tutelage.
- Florida has made the NCAA Men's Championships for 28 consecutive years, dating back to 1991.
- The Gator men have advanced to the NCAA semifinals twice, with its last semifinals appearance coming in 2005 when UF fell to eventual runner-up Baylor, 4-1, in College Station.

- Tickets may be purchased in advance or on each day of the tournament.
- An ALL-SESSION Pass $10.00 for adults and $5 for seniors, children under 17 and college students.
- SINGLE DAY tickets for Friday and Saturday are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for senior citizens, college students and children under 17.
- SINGLE DAY tickets for Sunday are $3.00 for everyone.
- A Will Call window for the teams will also be located at the Ring Tennis Complex entrance.

NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship
- The men's and women's NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships run May 23-May 28 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
- The announcement of the 64-player singles field and the 32-doubles draw will be held on Wednesday, May 2
- The names of the men's and women's individuals selected will be posted to www.NCAA.com no later than 6 p.m. ET
- The draws will be unveiled on Tuesday, May 22

- Press and photo credentials will be assigned to working press according to established NCAA guidelines.

- Please include the NAME and OUTLET of the person who will be issued the credential.
- All credentials can be collected at the Will Call window, which will be located at the entrance to the Ring Tennis Complex and opens 60 minutes prior to the start of the first match each day of the NCAA Championships.
- All Photographers MUST check in at the Media Press Box prior to shooting any on-court action.
