Men's cross country, women's golf and both men's and women's tennis – receive NCAA recognition Wednesday for Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores in the top 10 percent of their sport.
Four Florida teams -- men's cross country, women's golf and both men's and women's tennis – are among the programs receiving NCAA recognition Wednesday for Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores that ranked in the top 10 percent of their sport.
"We want our student-athletes to succeed both in the classroom and the athletic arena," said athletic director . "Being recognized among the nation's top 10 percent for academic progress shows their commitment of achieving their degrees."
This marks the fourth straight year of APR recognition for UF women's tennis team. The women's golf and men's tennis programs make their second consecutive appearance on the NCAA recognition list.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation to provide a measure of each team's academic performance. This year's APR report is a multi-year rate based on scores from the academic years 2013-14 through 2016-17.
Florida joins five Southeastern Conference men's cross country and nine women's golf teams among the top 10 percent for APR. Three men's and nine women's SEC tennis teams are among today's list.
These teams have demonstrated success in athletics while achieving in the classroom. Women's golf and both tennis teams advanced to NCAA Championship action each year in this four-year span, with the UF winning the 2017 NCAA women's tennis title. Cross country competed in NCAA Regional action each season, with individuals advancing to the final stage in 2015.
