Three Gators earn All-SEC Recognition; Crawford named SEC Freshman of Year

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference announced their annual postseason awards on Thursday which features three Gators on three all-conference teams including Oliver Crawford as SEC Freshman of the Year.
Crawford and Alfredo Perez each earned Frist Team All-SEC honors while Johannes Ingildsen earned Second Team All-SEC honors. Crawford was also named to the SEC All-Freshman team as well.
Perez earned his third consecutive All-SEC honor and second straight First Team All-SEC honor. The junior has been ranked inside the top 15 of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles rankings and the top five in doubles all season. Perez has posted a 12-10 record this season in singles including an 8-8 record at the No. 1 spot. Perez has really found his form late in the season with four straight wins including two dominant performances in the SEC Tournament that earned him SEC All-Tournament Team honors. In doubles he and Ingildsen spent seven of the possible 13 weeks ranked No. 1 in the country. Perez has earned a 12-8 record including a 7-3 mark in the SEC with nine wins coming on court one. He was impressive against the nation's best with a 5-2 record against nationally ranked opponents. In his career, Perez has posted an 80-31 overall record in singles with a career doubles record of 63-23. Perez joins Elliot Orkin as a three-time All-SEC performer under head coach Bryan Shelton.
Ingildsen earned his first career Second Team All-SEC honor after being named to the All-Freshman team a year ago. The 2017 All-American has posted a 13-8 singles record with 11 of those wins coming on court two. In doubles, Ingildsen was 10-10 with a 7-3 mark in the SEC. Ingildsen has been ranked inside the top 25 all season and earned a career-high ranking of No. 6 in singles back on March 6. In doubles he and Perez spent seven of the possible 13 weeks ranked No. 1 in the country.
After an impressive rookie campaign, Crawford was named the SEC Freshman of the Year as well as earning a spot on the All-SEC First Team and the SEC All-Freshman team. Crawford joins Janne Holmia (2003), Greg Ouellette (2005), Jesse Levine (2007) and Carlos Cueto (2009) as freshmen who have been named the SEC Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the All-SEC First Team. Crawford led the Gators with 17 wins and just five losses in singles play that includes an 11-1 SEC record and a 10-0 record on court three. During the season Crawford put together a 12-match winning streak, the longest in the SEC this season. Against nationally ranked opponents he was 5-2. In doubles, he earned a record of 17-4 with a perfect 8-0 record in the SEC. When playing with Chase Perez-Blanco the duo was a Florida best 14-2. Over the course of the season, Crawford earned three SEC Freshman of the Week honors, the most in the SEC, while also earning a Player of the Week honor. Crawford was the only SEC student-athlete to earn both a freshman and player of the week award during the season.
Florida will host the first two rounds of the upcoming NCAA Tennis Tournament that will be played May 12-13. The Gators will play South Carolina State on Saturday the 12th at 1 p.m. All-session passes cost $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and children under 17. Single day tickets on Saturday will cost $5 for adults and $3 for kids while on Sunday tickets will be $3 for everyone.
