Gators Drop Finale at Texas A&M

WHAT HAPPENED: No. 18 Texas A&M salvaged the final game of the series against No. 1 Florida with a 7-3 win on Sunday afternoon in College Station.

The Gators won the series with wins on Friday (9-0) and Saturday (6-1). On the season, UF is 38-11 overall and still in first place in the SEC with an 18-6 league record.

Florida took an early lead for the third game in a row after getting a run in each of the first two innings. Jonathan India's solo home run in the first opened the scoring and a sac fly from Blake Reese in the second made it 2-0.

Texas A&M fought back with three runs in the second inning to take its first lead of the weekend.

A RBI single from Wil Dalton in the third tied the game but the Aggies' retook the lead on Hunter Coleman's solo home run.

Cole Bedford hit a solo homer in the sixth to give Texas A&M a 5-3 lead.

The Aggies added a pair of runs in the seventh inning after a dropped fly ball to shallow center allowed two unearned runs to come in.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Jonathan India – After going hitless in the first two games of the series, India went 3-for-4 on Sunday with a home run. He now has 15 homers on the season.

FROM THE COACH: Head coach Kevin O'Sullivan on today's game: "This was a really good challenge for Jack. I was pleased with how he threw, he just left a couple balls up and got caught in some offensive counts and they took advantage of it. I thought offensively we were good but credit Texas A&M. They played really well today. They got the three-run second inning that kind of gave them momentum. All in all, we had a couple defensive mistakes with the popup in center field and another error at second base in the eighth. Overall, you win two out of three on the road in this league you have to be pleased with how you're playing."

STANDOUT STAT: 22 – With a walk in the second inning, JJ Schwarz extended his reached base streak to 22 games – the longest active streak on the roster. He finished 1-for-3 on the day with a walk and run scored.

UP NEXT: Florida returns to Gainesville for its last home stand of the regular season. On Tuesday night, the Gators will host USF at 6 p.m. Next weekend, the Georgia Bulldogs will travel to Gainesville for a huge SEC showdown beginning Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
