GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Women's Professional Lacrosse League (WPLL) held its collegiate draft on Monday night, just the second draft ever by the newly formed league.
Senior
Shayna Pirreca was selected sixth overall by the Upstate Pride. She joins former Florida standout Mollie Stevens and current assistant coach
Nadine Hadnagy on the squad.
Pirreca has been a force offensively for the Gators during her four years, totaling 209 points thus far. This season alone, she has set a new career-best for both goals in a season (55) and assists in a season (21).
The WPLL's Collegiate Draft saw 25 of the top 2018 graduates invited to join the WPLL for its inaugural season, kicking off on June 2.

In the
inaugural WPLL draft, which was held in August, six Gators were selected. Caroline Fitzgerald and Nicole Graziano are both on the New York Fight roster, while Lauren Lea was selected as a member of the Philadelphia Fire.

Taryn VanThof will represent the New England Command.
Pirreca and the rest of the Gators are back in action on Sunday, May 13 for the Second Round of NCAA play. Florida faces the winner of Colorado and Jacksonville at Donald R. Dizney Stadium.
