GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Standout wide receiver Van Jefferson, who spent the past three seasons at Ole Miss before transferring to UF in January, is immediately eligible to play this season after receiving a waiver from the Southeastern Conference.
 
Over the past two seasons at Ole Miss, Jefferson totaled 91 catches for 999 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
 
The Gators open up the 2018 season with a home game against Charleston Southern on Sept. 1 at 7:30 p.m.

• 2015-17 (Ole Miss):
  • 2017: Appeared in 10 games and started at slot receiver in the first three games of the season... Finished second on the team with 42 receptions... Recorded 456 receiving yards and one TD... Had his best game of the season at Cal when he hauled in a career-high 10 catches for 94 yards... Was Ole Miss's second-leading receiver at No. 12 Auburn with 89 yards off eight catches...Recorded his first and only touchdown of the season at Kentucky... Named Preseason All-SEC fourth team… 2016: Garnered Freshman All-America Third Team honors as an All-Purpose player from Athlon... Earned First Team Freshman All-SEC accolades from the league's coaches and Gridiron Now… Captured Second Team All-SEC honors from Athlon...   • Son of Shawn and Maria Jefferson... Full name is Vanchii Lashawn Jefferson Jr… His father played 13 years in the NFL as a wide receiver and has coached in the NFL as a wide receivers coach for the Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans and currently the Miami Dolphins.
