Gator Gymnastics Team Posts Win Over No. 9 Penn State

The University of Florida gymnastics team posted a 195.25-194.225 win over No. 9 Penn State Monday evening in front of a Stephen C. O'Connell Center crowd of 2,177. The win ups UF's season record to 5-3, while PSU drops to 12-4.

Junior All-American Kristen Guise of Coral Springs claimed four event titles Monday, including the all-around with a UF record total of 39.60. Guise first set the UF all-around record with a total of 39.375 at the 1994 Penn State dual meet and has reset the Gator all-around record a total of four times in the past year. Guise claimed three apparatus titles Monday -- vault (9.90), uneven bars (9.925) and floor exercise (9.90). PSU's Tracy Kerner broke up Guise's sweep of the event titles by claiming the balance beam crown with a mark of 9.90.

The Gators return to action Friday, March 10th when they play host to the Nationwide Insurance SEC Challenge, featuring No. 3 Alabama and No. 10 Kentucky. Meet time is set for 7 p.m. in the O'Connell Center.
