NO. 8 FLORIDA SOCCER TEAM DEFEATS IN-STATE RIVAL FSU 3-0

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 8 University of Florida soccer team (15-1, 7-0 SEC) extended its season shutout record total to 12 Wednesday by posting a 3-0 win over in-state rival Florida State (11-5-1, 1-4 ACC) in front of an FSU record crowd of 1,123 at the Seminole Intramural Field. 
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 8 University of Florida soccer team (15-1, 7-0 SEC) extended its season shutout record total to 12 Wednesday by posting a 3-0 win over in-state rival Florida State (11-5-1, 1-4 ACC) in front of an FSU record crowd of 1,123 at the Seminole Intramural Field. 
 
The match opened with a scoreless first half as the Gators had five shots on goal to the Seminoles two.  It was the first time the Gators were unable to score a first half goal since UF's 1-0 victory over Southeastern Conference rival Georgia on Sept. 27.  Gator forward Melissa Pini scored the first goal of the match 16 minutes into the second half on a 20 yard shot after a solo break from midfield.  UF junior All-American Danielle Fotopoulos scored back-to-back goals in the second half to increase her school-record season total to 19 goals.  Fotopoulos' first goal was scored at 78:00 on a four yarder from inside the goal box on a second-effort shot.  She scored her second goal two minutes later on a 16 yarder. 
 
Florida plays it's next match against No. 10 N.C. State in Thomasville, Ga. on Friday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.
