Men's Basketball Wins Final Exhibition 124-86

Junior center Udonis Haslem (Miami/Miami Senior) scored 28 points to lead the 11th-ranked Florida Gators to a 124-86 victory over the EA Sports/California All-Stars in the Gators' second of two exhibition games at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center on Monday night.
The California All-Stars jumped on top early leading by as many as 10 points at 16-6. The Gators then slowly came back, taking the lead at 42-40 on a jumper by sophomore guard Brett Nelson (St. Albans, W.V./St. Albans) at the 4:32 mark in the first half. The Gators went on to lead 64-46 at the half.
In the second half, Florida pushed its lead out to as much as 43 points at 108-65. The Gators went on to the 124-86 win.
For Florida, Haslem was followed by Nelson with 21 points. Brent Wright (Miami/Miami Senior) and Teddy Dupay (Ft. Myers, Fla./Mariner) had 14 each and Matt Bonner (Concord, N.H./Concord) added 13 points for the Gators.
The California All-Stars were led by Roberto Bergeson with 24 points. Michael Gill and Courtney James scored 15 points apiece and former Florida player Kenyan Weaks added 14 points.
Florida finishes the exhibition season with a 2-0 record, and will open the 2000-2001 regular season on Friday, Nov. 17 when they travel to Tallahassee, Fla. to take on archrival Florida State. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Leon County Civic Center.
