The fourth-ranked Florida women's tennis team handed Auburn its first Southeastern Conference loss of the season Sunday afternoon in front of a Linder Stadium crowd of 152. Florida posted a 8-1 win over the Tigers to give the Gators a 6-0 record this season and 3-0 mark in the SEC. Auburn drops to 4-5 overall, 0-1 in the league.

Sophomore Erin Bosclair, making her first appearance of the 2000 dual match season in the UF singles lineup, turned in UF's quickest win of the day, posting a 6-0, 6-3 win at the No. 6 spot in an hour and six minutes over Auburn's Caroline Thompson. Junior Whitney Laiho was the next to finish, posting a 6-2, 6-3 win over Auburn's no. 1 singles player Andrea Piski in 1:16. Sophomore Jessica Lehnhoff, playing at no. 2 singles, turned in a 7-5, 7-6 (3) win over Kate Illarionova to clinch the win for UF. Florida's other singles wins came in three-set matches, as freshman Julia Scaringe defeated AU's Carolina Maurer 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 at the no. 5 spot and junior Stephanie Hazlett posted a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 win over Simone Jardim at the No. 3 position. Senior Baili Camino fell to AU's Lucy Altman 6-4, 6-3 at the no. 4 position.
Florida swept the day's three doubles matches to claim the 8-1 win.
Florida returns to action on March 4, when the team travels to Durham, N.C., to meet No. 9 Duke.
