GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The second-ranked University of Florida men's tennis team (16-2) won five of six singles matches in defeating Brown (8-8), 6-1 on Friday evening at Linder Stadium at Ring Tennis Complex. The victory marked the 200
th in head coach Ian Duvenhage's 12-year career at Florida.
The Gators have now won 13 straight matches at Ring Tennis Complex dating back to last season.
In doubles, senior
Justin O'Neal tied Shawn Taylor (1984-87) for the most career doubles wins at Florida (81). He teamed with sophomore
Olivier Levant to defeat the team of Chris Wolfe and Chris Drake at No. 2. UF juniors
Jeff Morrison and
Nathan Overholser, ranked 17th in the country, defeated Brown's Justin Natale and Nick Malone at No. 1. Junior
Marcos Asse and senior
Dylan Mann were taken to the brink against Brown's Ocala native J.R. Argo and Ricardo Eboli, winning 9-8 at No. 3.
In singles, fifth-ranked Morrison defeated 85th-ranked Natale, 6-4, 6-2. It marked the 100
th singles victory of Morrison's career. 11th-ranked O'Neal defeated Wolfe, 6-1, 6-1 to clinch the match. Levant downed Drake, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4. Mann defeated Argo, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5. UF's freshman
