The No. 7 University of Florida gymnastics team turned in its season-best total Friday night at The Dodge Premier, but it wasn't enough to beat No. 3 Alabama. The Crimson Tide tallied a season-best 196.65 to win The Dodge Premier in front of a Stephen C. O'Connell Center crowd of 4,537, while UF posted a 195.55. Both teams turned in strong performances Friday, as UF hit each of its 24 competitive routines and the Tide counted no falls toward its team total.

The Gators did win at least a share of two individual event titles Friday, as junior Hilary Thompson matched her collegiate-best floor exercise mark of 9.95 to claim that event title. UF freshman Kara Waterhouse claimed a share of her second consecutive balance beam title Friday, posting a 9.875 to finish tied for first with Alabama's Lissy Smith. Waterhouse was second in the evening's all-around competition, tallying a collegiate-best 39.10 Friday. Gator sophomore Lindsey Miner also turned in a collegiate-best 9.90 to share second on the floor exercise with UA's Katie Hornecker.
Alabama's Raegen Tomasek claimed the all-around title with a season-best 39.35. UA's Erin Holdefer won the vault at 9.85, while teammate Natalie Barrington claimed top honors in the uneven bars at 9.925.
Next up, the Gators meet North Carolina State in Raleigh, N.C., on Saturday, Jan. 27.
