All members from the University of Florida women’s tennis team competing in the Gator Fall Classic were eliminated from the singles and doubles semifinals Saturday afternoon at the Ring Tennis complex.

The second day of action in the three-day event began with a bit of disappointment for Gator fans, as Annnika Bengtsson (Helsingborg, Sweden) and Alexis Gordon (Windsor, CT) both were eliminated in the singles competition. Bengtsson defeated Kentucky’s Shannon Stafford, who is from Gainesville, 6-4, 6-4 in the quarterfinals before losing to Miami’s Mari Toro 7-6, 7-5 in the semis. Gordon dropped her quarterfinal contest 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 to Kentucky’s Lauren Rookledge.

In doubles Bengtsson and Gordon were upset by UCF’s Julie Pecastaing and Anna Westin 9-7 in the semifinals.

Final matches for eight different draws will begin on Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
