Former Gator Dan Cross Signs Pro Contract In Italy

Former University of Florida basketball player Dan Cross signed a professional contract to play with Castelmaggiore in the Italian Basketball Association the league announced.
Cross, a 6-3, 193-pound guard originally from Carbondale, Illinois, played at Florida from 1992-95. Cross earned Honorable Mention All-American honors during his junior and senior seasons and was also a First Team All-Southeastern Conference selection in 1994 and 1995. He finished his career ninth on the Gator all-time scoring list with 1,451 points, fourth on the UF all-time assists chart (367), second on the UF all-time three-point field goal ledger (132), second on the Gator all-time games played list (128) and first on Florida all-time steals list (198).
Cross was one of only two players in the Southeastern Conference to be ranked in the top 20 of seven different statistical categories as a senior and hit a then school-record 31 consecutive free throws.
As a junior, Cross earned a spot on the NCAA Tournament All-East Regional Team, as he played a key role in leading Florida to the 1994 Final Four. He became only the second player in league history to be named SEC Player of the Week in consecutive weeks and also set a UF single-season steals record with 76 thefts. He averaged 18.0 ppg during the campaign.
