University of Florida quarterback Rex Grossman and defensive end Alex Brown were named the AP’s SEC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively, on Tuesday. They were also two of the eight Gator players named first-team All-SEC, with four others earning second-team All-SEC honors.
“This is a tremendous honor,” Grossman said. “I feel that it shows how good of an offense we had this year. The 12 All-SEC picks reflects very well on the team.”
Joining Brown and Grossman on the first team are WR Jabar Gaffney, OT Mike Pearson, PK Jeff Chandler, LB Andra Davis, FS Todd Johnson and CB Lito Sheppard. WR Reche Caldwell, C Zac Zedalis, RB Earnest Graham and DT Ian Scott were all named second-team All-SEC. Gaffney and Grossman were both unanimous choices. Gaffney, a sophomore, has now been a unanimous choice in each of his first two seasons as a Gator.
