Softball to Face Miss. State in SEC Tourney Opener

The University of Florida softball team will open its fifth consecutive appearance in the Southeastern Conference Tournament May 10-13 at the Jim Frost Stadium in Chattanooga, Tenn., as the No. 5 seed vs. fourth-seeded Mississippi State, the league office announced late Sunday afternoon.
The teams will play Thursday at 6 p.m. UF (36-24, 14-15 SEC), one of just four school to have qualified for every SEC Tournament, is 2-1 vs. the Bulldogs (35-24, 19-11 SEC) this year, including a 6-0 shutout home victory. The top eight of 11 league teams qualify for the double-elimination bracket. The champion receives the SEC's automatic bid into the 48-team NCAA Championship to be announced May 13 at 8:30 p.m.
