Gators Named Named ITA Doubles Team of Year

The University of Florida's NCAA champion duo of Whitney Laiho and Jessica Lehnhoff is the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) selection as National Doubles Team of the Year. Georgia's Matias Boeker and Travis Parrott picked up the men's award as the ITA's National Doubles Team of the Year after claiming the NCAA men's doubles crown.
Florida's Laiho and Lehnhoff collected the award after posting a 34-1 record this season, including a 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 win over Stanford's No. 3 seeded Laura Granville and Gabriela Lastra in the NCAA doubles title match. Laiho, a senior from Newport, R.I., and Lehnhoff, a junior from Delray Beach, Fla., went 45-6 over the past two seasons and are the fourth Gator duo to win an NCAA women's doubles title. They reeled off 29-consecutive victories at one point this season and finished the season at No. 1 in ITA national doubles rankings. They were also named ITA National Doubles Team of the Month for April.
As the governing body of collegiate tennis the ITA promotes both the athletic and academic achievements of the collegiate tennis community. The ITA, which is based in Princeton, N.J., administers the ITA Collegiate Grand Slam Championships, the ITA Collegiate Summer Circuit, presented by the USTA, and the ITA Rankings for men's and women's tennis at the NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and Junior College levels. The ITA also has a comprehensive awards program for players and coaches to honor excellence in academics, leadership and sportsmanship.
