The No. 15 Stanford soccer team scored twice within a two-minute span to take a 3-2 overtime win over No. 18 Florida (1-1) in front of a Percy Beard Stadium crowd of 1,655.

Stanford tied the match at 89:00 when SU's Callie Withers took a 20-yard shot that deflected off a Gator defender into the goal. The Cardinal scored quickly in the first period of sudden-victory, as Marcia Wallis scored off a 16-yard shot at 91:15 to give SU the win in its season-opening match. Wallis also scored the Cardinal's first goal, hitting a 20-yard left shot at 51:04.

"It's really frustrating, but it's really early and the good thing is that this is still a young team. It's good to have an experience like this early in the season. It gives them some experience that will pay off later, hopefully," UF Head Coach Becky Burleigh said. "It's something we just want to learn from."

The Gators put up an early 2-0 lead in the opening half, with both goals coming off of set plays. Senior Andi Sellers headed in a Karyn Hall corner kick to the near post at 14:53 to give UF the early lead. Abby Wambach turned in the Gators' second goal, heading in a Hall free kick at 22:35 to finish off the scoring for the opening half.

The Gators take to the road for their next match, as they open Southeastern Conference play vs. Louisiana State on Friday, Sept. 7. Match time is set for 8 p.m. (ET) at the LSU Soccer Complex.
