Florida head football coach Ron Zook has selected quarterback Rex Grossman, wide receiver Taylor Jacobs, linebacker Mike Nattiel, defensive back Robert Cromartie and long snapper Casey Griffith as his captains for this weekend's Florida State game in Tallahassee, Fla. at Doak Campbell Stadium.
After a bye week, the No. 11/15 Gators play the Seminoles in the annual rivalry game Saturday, Nov. 30 at 8 p.m. For the first time this season Florida will appear on ABC in Saturday's game.
Grossman and Jacobs will be the team's offensive captains, Nattiel and Cromartie will handle defensive duties and Griffith will serve as special teams captain.
Prior to the bye week, Grossman led Florida to a 28-7 victory over South Carolina. In that game he threw for 228 yards and a season-high four touchdowns by going 24-of-34. Jacobs has missed the last two games due to injury but is likely to return Saturday for the final regular season game in his hometown. He has made 57 catches for 905 yards with eight touchdown receptions. Nattiel is second on the team in tackles with 123, including 76 solo stops while Cromartie has made 62 tackles including 44 solos.
This will be the 87th nationally televised game the Gators have played in since 1990, a total that ranks second highest in the nation.
