Florida (10-6) gave up home runs in the fourth and fifth innings to lead to its 7-0 loss to the No. 22 Louisiana- Lafayette Lady Cajuns (7- 2). It was Florida's worst loss since giving up a 9-0 decision to Alabama on March 27, 2001.

The Gators struggled at the plate again, tallying only three hits. The Gators also had some problems in the infield. They had four errors, three in the top of the sixth to allow two Lady Cajun runs.
The Gators looked sharp through three innings. Starter Amanda Knowles (5-1) retired the first seven batters before giving up a hit. The defense backed Knowles and left two Louisiana runners stranded in the third. The Lady Cajuns took a 1-0 lead on a lead off home run by Alana Addison. Florida held them there in that inning as the defense retired the next three batters.
The fourth inning was the death of the Gators as they gave up four earned runs on three hits and an error. Amanda Moore came in to relieve Knowles after Becky McMurtry drilled a homer deep over the centerfield fence with a runner on to give the Cajuns the 5-0 lead. The Lady Cajuns scored two more runs in the top of the sixth off one hit and three errors by the Florida infield.
Brooke Mitchell (3-0) went the distance for Louisiana-Lafayette, striking out 10 Gator batters. Amanda Knowles (5-1) took her first loss of the season.
Florida returns to action tomorrow facing off against Houston at 5:15 p.m. (ET) and playing the Lady Cajuns again at 7:30.
