A three-run homer in the fourth inning and leaving nine runners stranded proved to be Florida's (22-24, 5-10 SEC) downfall as they lost Sunday's game to Arkansas (25-14, 6-6 SEC) 4-1.
Arkansas scored their first three runs on a three runs homer over the left field fence in the top of the fourth inning to give Arkansas the 3-0 lead. Florida threatened in the bottom of the inning, loading the bases with no outs, but they were unable to bring a runner home.
Arkansas added one more run as Courtney Mitchell scored on a fielder's choice by Danika White to give the Lady Backs the 4-0 lead.
With two outs in the bottom of the fourth, Florida's Jackie Marchetta ripped a single up the middle. Mylin Prieto followed with a single. The Arkansas outfielder fumbled the ball, allowing Marchetta to score. And narrow the lead to 4-1.
Florida added two more hits in the next two innings, but were unable to score again, giving Arkansas the 4-1 win.
Marchetta and Prieto both had great games for Florida at the plate. Both players went 2-for-4 and Marchetta scored Florida's lone run. They also were sharp defensively, combining for half of Florida's 12 assists.
Heather Schlichtman earned the win for Arkansas. Her record is now 11-6. Amanda Moore took the loss for Florida her record is 9-10.
Florida has a week off before going to Oxford, Miss. To take on Ole Miss on April 6 and 7.
