UF Track Teams Gear Up for Penn Relays at Auburn

The Florida track and field teams competed in the Auburn Bank Invitational in a final tune up for next week's 108th running of the Penn Relays. The received nine provisional qualifying marks and 11 winning performances in today's competition.
The men's team was led by Matt Vincent in the high jump of 7-3. Vincent tied for first place but was awarded second on the number of misses. Vincent's height is a seasonal best and an improved NCAA qualifying mark. He now ranks tied for third nationally. The Gators were also led by Paul Condron with a lifetime best in the pole vault. Condron won with an NCAA provisional mark of 17-3.5.
Rickey Harris ran 50.22 to win the 400m hurdles in a provisional qualifying time. Harris' time ranks him fifth in the nation after this weekend.
Moise Joseph and Ali Abiola took first and second respectively in the 800m. Joseph had a provisional time of 1:48.81 and Abiola had a time of 1:50.18. Chris Duncan ran a lifetime best of 8:48.57 in the steeplechase to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Other winners for the Gator men were Carlos Hinojosa in the 5,000m (15:16.32) and Ryan McIntyre in the discus (177-9)
The women's team was led again by its middle distance runners. Kamille Bratton turned in a provisional qualifying mark of 2:06.62 to win the 800m. Melissa DeLeon won the 1500m with a time of 4:31.65. Kristina Bratton was second in the 1500m at 4:33.50.
The pole vaulting trio of Stephanie Hood, Ana Salzano and Megan Westfall each had a height of 12-7.25. Hood was declared the winner on the basis of number of misses. Chandra Lacombe was fourth with a mark of 11-7.25
Also winning for the Gators was Rachel Longfors in the discus (170-6) and Erin Gilreath in the shot put with a provisional mark of 49-5.5.
Both Gator teams head to Philadelphia for the Penn Relays which begin on Thursday. This year will be the 108th annual relay carnival at the University of Pennsylvania's Franklin Field.
