Women's Doubles Falls in Final of Kickoff Classic

The University of Florida women's doubles team of freshman Jennifer Magley and sophomore Zerene Reyes lost in the finals of the 2003 Collegiate Kickoff Classic on Sunday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. The unranked Gator duo fell to Tennessee's 22nd-ranked Vilmarie Castellvi and Melissa Schaub 8-5.
"Overall, I thought these two had a very good doubles tournament," UF head coach Roland Thornqvist said. "I was very encouraged with the way they played and am pleased with their way this doubles team is progressing. With the exception of two games, which happened to come in the final, they are playing better and better and I think they can see their improvement."
The Gators return to the courts on Saturday, January 25, when second-ranked Florida plays host to South Florida in the dual match opener. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and admission is free.
