W. Golf Travels to Franklin Street Partners Invite

The No. 9 University of Florida Lady Gator golf team tees off at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Chapel Hill, N.C., to play in the Franklin Street Partners Invitational hosted by North Carolina. The Lady Gators will play Oct. 3-5, 2003 at the Finley Golf Course (par 72 / 6,285 yards).
Eight of the nine tournament teams are ranked in the NGCA Coaches' Poll. Four of those teams are ranked in the top 10 (Duke, 1; Auburn, 2; Oklahoma St., 4; UF, 9).
Sophomore Aimee Cho (Orlando, Fla.) is No. 1 on the starting lineup followed by freshman Naree Song (Bradenton, Fla.) at the No. 2 spot. Both Cho and Song have a 72.83 stroke average, the best season average in school history. Deb Richard averaged 73.1 strokes during the 1984-85 season.
The Lady Gators have finished in the top five in seven of the last 12 tournaments, including their No. 4 finish at the Mason Rudolph Championship Sept. 28.
Florida's last appearance in the Franklin Street Partners Invitational was in 2000 when the Lady Gators placed eighth out of 17 teams.
