Six Gators scored in double figures to lead Florida to a convincing 107-73 win in their exhibition finale versus Team Nike Tuesday night in the O'Connell Center. Christian Drejer recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists and David Lee led all UF scorers with 20 points on 9-of-10 shooting.
"I felt that what we needed to get done tonight, we got done," said Florida head coach Billy Donovan. "I thought that what I saw out there was all positive and something that we can move on from tonight."
The Gators were able to put together an 10-0 run to end the first half and capture a 15 point lead at intermission, shooting 65 percent from the floor. Florida began the second half with a 13-3 run led by seven points from Bonell Colas.
The Gators pulled down 50 rebounds with freshman Chris Richards leading the team with nine rebounds, including six offensive boards. Lee, Christian Drejer, Bonell Colas, Matt Walsh, freshman Ryan Appleby and Mohamed Abukar each scored in double digits. Drejer and Appleby combined for 16 of the Gators' 26 assists, while only accounting for two turnovers.
"I love their team," said Team Nike head coach Bill Frieder. " They are young and they will meet some more experienced teams out there, but they know how to play. They have what it takes. They are an excellent team."
Florida is now 43-13-1 all-time in exhibition games and 19-3-1 under head coach Billy Donovan.
