Tuesday, March 25, 2003 | Track and Field
The University of Florida men's and women's track programs are set to host the 60th Coca-Cola Florida Relays, beginning Wednesday, March 26 and ending March 29. The event feature collegiate teams as well as top high school teams from across the country.
The competition begins Wednesday with the first day of the heptathlon and decathlon. After those events conclude Thursday morning, the high school portion of the meet will begin. Thursday night will feature a collegiate distance carnival, while Friday will begin with collegiate and open events and will finish with the collegiate and high school relays. Saturday will also feature collegiate and high school events as well.
Both the Florida men's and women's teams will compete with a full squad this weekend after sending just a few field athletes to the Florida State Relays last weekend. In that meet, Candice Scott re-set her own school record in the hammer throw with her mark of 220-4, the second-best collegiate throw in history.
A complete schedule of the weekend's events can be found on the Florida Relays site on Gatorzone.com. The site also includes complete entry lists for all divisions and links to results.
