UF Wins Two @ TCU/Scott 4th @ Mt.SAC Hammer Invite

University of Florida senior Matt Vincent and junior Ryan McIntyre each picked up event titles Saturday at the TCU Invitational while sophomore Candice Scott was the top collegiate in the Olympic Hammer Development invitational event at the Mt. San Antonio College Relays.
Vincent claimed the Texas Christian Invitational high jump title Saturday in Ft. Worth, Texas, with his leap of 6-11.50 (2.12m). McIntyre used a season-best mark of 180-06 (55.02) to take the TCU discus title. He also used a season-best mark of 51-10.50 (15.81m) to finish fifth in the shot put. Freshman Alex Harris was fourth in the long jump with his season-best leap of 24-00.75 (7.33m).
On the west coast, Scott's throw of 221-00 (67.36) finished fourth overall and was the top collegiate mark in the Olympic Hammer Development competition, held Saturday at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. Teammate Erin Gilreath was 14th with a mark of 195-11 (59.73). American record holder Anna Norgren-Mahon won the event with a mark of 234-0. Former American record holder and former NCAA champion Dawn Ellerbe was second (222-08) and third was Florence Ezah of France (221-06), an Olympian and a former NCAA champion while at SMU.
"Candice finished behind some very good company," UF Associate Head Coach Larry Judge said. "It was a high quality competition. Candice threw very, very well in some very good company. It was a tremendous experience for both of them. They got some great experience competing against some of the best in college and some of the best open athletes in the U.S."
Scott also competed in the Mt. SAC Relays shot put invitational, taking ninth with her season-best mark of 52-03.25 (15.93).
Next up, the Florida track & field team competes in the 109th Annual Penn Relays Carnival in Philadelphia, Pa. Competition begins April 24 at Franklin Field.
