2003 FLORIDA BASEBALL SEASON IN REVIEW
TEAM NOTES
• Concluded the season with a 37-21-1 record winning 30 or more games for the 13th consecutive year.
• The 30 victory season was also the 25th in school history.
• Finished third in the SEC East trailing second place Vanderbilt by just a half a game.
• Advanced to NCAA Regional play for the 21st time in school history and seventh time in the last eight years.
• Played in a regional in Coral Gables, Fla. for the seventh time in the program's history (1981, 1982, 1985, 1994, 1997, 2001, 2003).
• Had nine total wins against ranked opponents and went 6-3 against ranked foes at home.
• The Gators went 12-0 in mid-week games becoming the first team to go undefeated at home in mid-week affairs.
• Went 31-6 at home in McKethan Stadium becoming just the seventh team in school history to win 30 games at home.
• The .838 home winning percentage at home was also the eighth best ever in Florida school history.
• Helped produce 30 win seasons at home in back-to-back seasons for just the second time in school history.
• Started the season 12-1 to become just the fourth team to win at least 12 of their first 13 games.
• Won series against five SEC teams and swept Tennessee.
• Played 15 SEC games that were decided by two runs or less.
• Produced a school record 17 players who were named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
• For the first time in school history had two players, C.J. Smith and Ben Harrison, named to the Verizon Academic All-District first-team. Florida was the only school with two members on the first team.
