"We were pleased to win today and I thought we played better in the doubles," said head coach Andy Jackson. "In the singles we were sharp and today was a big break through for Janne (Holmia). John (Chesworth) is a good player and like I've said before I hope the whole season is determined by how Janne is playing because he will get there."

Florida captured the doubles point in slightly under an hour when Vladimir Obradovic and Trey Johnson made quick work of Allen Simmons and Greg Maarschalk on court two with an 8-1 win that came in 36 minutes. Hamid Mirzadeh and Chris Brandi gave UF the 1-0 lead when they defeated John Chesworth and Brian Cook on the top court, 8-6. UF swept the doubles matches as Janne Holmia and Martin Stiegwardt teamed for an 8-4 win over Scott Kahler and Will Kieffer on three.

Florida took an opportunity to change its lineup in order to get many on the young team some experience in single play. The shift sent Janne Holmia to the top court for the first time in his career and brought Chris Brandi up to the second court. However, it was Stefan Tell on court four who provided UF with a 2-0 lead when he took a straight set (6-3, 6-0) win over Kevin Lackey. Brandi took control of his match in straight sets as well when he defeated Allen Simmons (6-3, 6-0) to get Florida within a point of taking the match. Moments later, Holmia clinched the match for the Gators with a 6-4, 6-3 win over John Chesworth. UF went on to straight set wins in all of its matches as Ryan Sherry defeated Ben Pauluhn 6-2, 6-3, and Martin Stiegwardt defeated B.J. James on court five by the same score. Trey Johnson rounded out the Florida winners as he defeated Greg Maarschalk on court six (6-4, 6-4)

UF will next to travel to Seattle, Wash., for the USTA/ITA National Team Indoors. The University of Washington will host the tournament at the Nordstrom Tennis Center and Seattle Tennis Club. UF will meet Harvard in the first round.
