UF Announces Upgraded Student Football Ticket Plan
Tuesday, February 24, 2004 | General
University of Florida students will be able to submit their names into a lottery system for 2004 Football season tickets, the Gator Ticket Office announced Tuesday.
The student lottery will begin March 15 at noon and end at 5 p.m. on March 26. To register for the lottery, students must log onto my.ufl.edu with their Gatorlink username and password and then follow ticket ordering information under the "Student Tickets" link. Student sales will again be based upon UF credit hours earned.
"We feel good about giving all students at the University of Florida a fair chance to purchase season tickets for football." said Assistant Athletic Director for Ticket Operations Bill Holloway.
Last year at peak volume 30,000 calls per second were attempting to access the system during the student ticket ordering period and the number of calls disrupted commercial, business and emergency phone service in the area.
The week of March 26 through April 2, the University Athletic Association will send out an e-mail to lottery winners and non-winners. Students will also be able to check their status on my.ufl.edu following the deadline. Starting April 5 at 4 p.m. student season payments for lottery winners will be accepted until Friday, April 23.
Any unclaimed lottery winners after April 23 will be put into a pool with the non-winners from the first lottery where students will have a second chance to be selected for season tickets the week of April 26-30. The second group of winners will have from May 3-14 to pay for their tickets.
Florida students are allotted 25 percent of the stadium seating capacity - the highest percentage in the Southeastern Conference.
"We allocate 21,500 tickets for our students to attend our football games," said Holloway. "Even if students find themselves without a ticket through the season ticket process, we had single-game tickets available on Thursday evenings before every home game last year."
A detailed brochure outlining the UF student football ticket policy will be mailed to 48,000-plus students the week of March 1 and a copy of the brochure will also be available on the Gators' official website (www.gatorzone.com).
