No. 3 Women's Tennis Sweeps No. 5 North Carolina

Third-ranked Florida posted its most impressive victory of the season on Monday, sweeping fifth-ranked North Carolina 7-0 at The Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
This was the Gator's second win this season against a top-5 ranked team, also posting a convincing 6-1 victory over then-No. 4 Vanderbilt in Gainesville. That was the only match this season when Florida did not sweep its opponent.
"This was a great win for us," UF head coach Roland Thornqvist said. "They have very good doubles teams, but we were ready and battled. We responded extremely well to their challenges in singles. We're hitting on all cylinders right now."
Florida, which won its 28th consecutive match, improved to 11-0 this season. The Tar Heels suffer just their first home loss of the year and drop to 13-3 overall.
The Gators earned straight set victories on all six singles courts, receiving wins from Alexis Gordon, Jennifer Magley, Zerene Reyes, Boglarka Berecz, Lindsay Dawaf and Nina Suvak. UF also won on all three doubles courts, which included senior Julie Rotondi pairing with Gordon at the No. 1 position.
Florida gained the early momentum when Jennifer Magley and Zerene Reyes, ranked 34th, defeated Kendrick Bunn and Caitlin Collins 8-5 to clinch the doubles point. Magley and Reyes improved to their career record together to 51-14, which ranks tied for third all-time in Florida history as the most wins by a doubles pair.
Florida continues its four-match road swing on Friday, when the Gators return to Sotuheastern Conference action and travel to Auburn. The team then plays at Alabama on Sunday.
