MT&F Athlete Scores Win at Texas Relays

Alex Harris tallied his first win of the season in the long jump, and Josh Walker was the top qualifier in the 110m hurdles as the Gator men's track and field team completed day two at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays Friday.
Harris won the 'B' section of the long jump with a mark of 7.49m/24-7.00, which is a personal best by more than five inches. Walker clocked in at 13.66 in the men's 110m hurdles to advance to the finals as the top qualifier.
The 4x100m-relay team of Ahmad Jasmine, Kyle Farmer, Reggie Witherspoon and Sekou Clarke finished second in its heat and qualified seventh overall in 40.28 to advance to Saturday's final.
In the 'A' section of the long jump, battling driving rain, Mike Morrison finished seventh with a mark of 7.47m/24-6.25. Both athletes notched regional qualifying marks in the event.
Ryan McIntyre recorded the top mark in his flight and finished second overall in the 'B' section of the discus with a throw of 53.86m/176-8 - a season-best throw by nearly 15 feet. The senior doubled up on the day, finishing 17th in the 'B' section of the shot put with a personal-best mark of 15.88m/52-1.25.
In the Gators' final event of the night, Steve Zieminski finished fourth in a season-best time of 8:56.15. Daniel parker finished seventh 9:09.75.
The 1,600m sprint medley relay team did not finish after dropping the baton early in the race.
The Relays conclude tomorrow.
