Capel Runs On Winning 4x100 Team In England

Former University of Florida athlete and 2004 Olympian John Capel competed for the second time in three days and ran on the winning 4x100m relay at the Norwich Union International meet on Sunday.
The meet featured athletes from Great Britain, the U.S. and several other European countries and was one of the final opportunities for competitors before the 2004 Olympics begin in late August.
Capel, who was named to the U.S. pool of candidates to potentially run in the 4x100m relay at Athens, competed in two events on Sunday, highlighted by the USA 4x100n relay team that won with a time of 38.62 with Capel running the leadoff leg. Great Britain finished second to the U.S. with a time of 38.85. Capel also ran in the 100m and finished third with a wind-aided (+2.4) time of 10.28. Kim Collins won the race after clocking a 10.10.
