Saturday, July 3, 2004 | Women's Tennis
Lisa Raymond fell short in her bid to win an eighth professional Grand Slam title Saturday when she was eliminated in the semifinal round of women's doubles at Wimbledon.
Raymond, the 1992 and 1993 NCAA Singles champion, paired with tennis legend Martina Navratilova as the No. 3 doubles seed and dropped a tough 7-6 (4), 7-5 battle to fifth-seeded Liezel Huber (RSA) and Ai Sugiyama (JPN) at The All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club.
Raymond was the final former Gator still playing on the famous grass courts, which also saw Jill Craybas, Jessica Lehnhoff and Mark Merklein during the fortnight.
