2004 FLORIDA BASEBALL SEASON IN REVIEW
TEAM NOTES
- Finished the season 43-22 winning 40 or more games for the 16th time in school history and for the sixth time in the last nine years. Florida has won 30 or more games for 14 straight seasons.
- The Gators won 43 or more games for the 11th time in school history and for the second time in three years under head coach Pat McMahon. The 43 wins are the second most ever for McMahon in his 12 years as a head coach.
- The 2004 team became only one of six in school history to win 37 of its first 50 games of the season.
- Advanced to NCAA Regional play for the 22nd time in school history and for the eighth time in the last nine years.
- Florida won the Oklahoma City Regional sweeping three straight games to claim the championship. The regional victory advanced Florida to its first ever Super Regional appearance as the Gators were one of final 16 teams playing in 2004.
- Sixteen times UF bounced back from a deficit to win games during the 2004 season and the resilient Gators won an incredible 12 games in their last at-bat. The knack for comebacks was highlighted by two comeback wins at Alabama where Florida won a series for the first time since 1988.
- Finished tied for second in the SEC Eastern Division and earned a No. 6 seed for the SEC Tournament. The Gators made their SEC leading 25th Tournament appearance where Florida has won 43 games which is third most of any school in the conference.
- Florida won 11 games against ranked opponents and won 11 games away from home.
- UF won nine SEC road games which was tied for second in the league.
- The Gators went 27-9 at home in McKethan Stadium winning 25 or more games at home for the sixth straight season. The Gators also finished 19-2 at home in non-league contests.
- Florida tied a school record during the season by winning 14 straight games from Feb. 21 through March 14.
- The Gators played 29 games decided by two runs or less and went 17-12 in those type of contests. Twenty-one Florida's last 25 games were decided by three or less runs.
- Won seven games during the season against teams that advanced to the 2004 College World Series in Omaha.
- UF had four shutouts during the season which was the most since having four in the 1996 season. The Gators held a 3.19 ERA and fielded .973 over the last 25 games of the season.
- UF newcomers accounted for 29 home runs, 45 doubles, 25 stolen bases and 150 RBI while having a .295 batting average (260-for-880).

MILESTONES
• Head coach Pat McMahon reached in the 100 win mark in his Florida career faster than any coach in school history as he reached the win total in his first 145 games as the head coach.
• Florida won 30 or more games for the 14th consecutive season and 40 or more for the 16th time in school history.
• The Florida baseball program won their 1,900th game as they improved their all-time record to 1949-1266-24 (.605).
• Florida won 20 or more home games for the 17th straight season.
• The Gators advanced to their 22nd ever NCAA Regional.
• Ben Harrison ended his career as just the eighth player to reach the 20+ HR, 100+ RBI, 30+ SB plateau in Gator baseball history.
