Swimming And Diving To Defend Title At Purdue Invitational

The Florida swimming and diving team will travel to West Lafayette, Ind., Nov. 18-20 for the Purdue Invitational. The Gators will look to repeat their 2004-05 champion effort at this year's edition of the Invitational.
The Orange and Blue enter the Invite following a win at its first home meet of the season. The fourth-ranked women defeated Florida Atlantic by a score of 164.5-124.5 on Nov. 11 at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center, while the seventh-ranked men notched a 180-109 victory over the Owls.
In the swimming competition against Florida Atlantic, the Gator men won nine of the first 10 events before swimming exhibition in the final four. On the women's side the Gators swept the top three spots in four of the 16 events, and also claimed first place in 11.
The Purdue Invitational kicks off at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center Friday morning with preliminary qualifying heats at 10 a.m. before the finals which are slated to begin at 6 p.m. The invitational will follow the same schedule all three days, until the last finals competition on Sunday which will begin at 4 p.m. Live stats for the Purdue Invite will be available at http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~whprice/, and a recap and full results will also be available at www.gatorzone.com at the conclusion of each day.
