Florida Accepts Invitation To Outback Bowl

The University of Florida football team will face the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Outback Bowl at 11 a.m. ET on ESPN on Jan. 2, 2006, at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. The Gators will be making their 15th-straight bowl appearance to extend their current school record, which ranks first in the SEC and third nationally.
“We are thrilled to accept an invitation to the Outback Bowl and we appreciate the opportunity provided to us by the Outback Bowl Committee,” said Florida Athletics Director Jeremy Foley. “The Tampa and St. Petersburg area has a large and passionate Gator following. We are looking forward to enjoying a great week of hospitality and having the chance to play in an outstanding Bowl game.”
“We are excited about the opportunity to play in the Outback Bowl to play a very talented and well coached Iowa team,” said Florida head coach Urban Meyer.
The Gator Ticket Office is currently accepting orders for the Outback Bowl. Season ticket holders and general public may purchase bowl tickets by calling (877) 428-6742 (toll-free) or from the Gainesville area (352) 384-3261 and place their order through G.A.T.O.R.S. The Gator Ticket Office will be also accepting orders beginning now through Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005 at 5 p.m. Ticket prices for the game will be $60.
UF Students will have the opportunity to order bowl tickets beginning Thursday, Dec. 8, at 6 p.m., by calling G.A.T.O.R.S. (877) 428-6747 (toll free) and from the Gainesville area (352) 384-3262. Eligible UF students are not required to be a 2005 football student season ticket holder. Sales will continue until student allotment sells out. Students will pick up pre-purchased tickets at the Student Ticket Office (Gate 13) beginning Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005.
Florida is 14-18 all-time and will be making its third appearance in the Outback Bowl in the last four seasons. The Gators own a 4-3 record against Big 10 teams in bowl games all-time.
The Outback bowl will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year as it hosts teams from the Big Ten Conference and Southeastern Conference in Raymond James Stadium. For more information, visit www.outbackbowl.com.
