Head Coach Urban Meyer
On the Outback Bowl…
"Obviously, this is the bowl game that our players are very excited about going to. The Outback Bowl has a great reputation as a January bowl and is very prestigious. When they selected Iowa I thought that this is going to be a meeting of two very good football programs, two teams that in my opinion are on the rise. Iowa has played some tremendous teams, and we are hoping that Florida can continue to take some steps forward. We are anxious to go. I think that it is a great city. We are pleased that they picked us and we have an obligation to have the team ready to go. I will say that I have been involved in bowl games where your team has won the last game heading into the bowl game and that is significant. I'm really glad that we finished the season the way we did because there is a lot of energy and a lot of juice in the program. I've also been involved in programs where you lose the last game then you have to sit for a month then go and play and I think that when you are dealing with 18-year-olds that momentum is an important thing. I really like the momentum of our team right now, especially from two weeks ago Saturday."
Senior Jeremy Mincey
On the Outback Bowl…
“The coaches keep us real focused, they help us stay hungry. We are not going to get complacent just because we beat Florida State, we have to look ahead and keep pushing. That's what we have to do to beat a team like them (Iowa), stay mentally focused on what is in front of us, stay hungry.”
Junior Chris Leak
On what winning a bowl game can do for the team …
“When you win a bowl game it gives you a lot of confidence and momentum going into the off-season and spring practice, as a team we are excited and ready to prepare for a big game. You never want to lose big games, especially games like Bowl games in front of a national audience, playing against those great teams.”
Sophomore Brandon Siler
On the importance of winning the Outback Bowl:
“It would get everyone ready for next year. It would be nice to send our seniors out on a high note. They could leave knowing that they started something big.
