University of Florida Well Represented On SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll

The University of Florida posted the second-highest number of student-athletes on the 2005 Southeastern Conference Freshman Academic Honor Roll with 63 as announced by the league office Thursday afternoon.
Soccer led all Gator sports with eight honorees, as every Gator sport was represented on the honor roll. Gymnastics had six, while women's golf, women's cross country and both swimming and diving teams placed five athletes on the honor roll. Men's cross country and women's track each had four with four Gator teams recording three recipients (baseball, men's basketball, softball, women's tennis). Football and men's track added two apiece, while women's basketball and men's tennis each added one.
For the 2004-05 academic year, Florida led the league in total SEC Academic Honor Roll recipients in SEC championship sponsored sports after posting a sum of 236 total honorees (freshman combined with spring and fall honorees). South Carolina was second with 205.
