Swimmers Makes Splash At Duel In the Pool On Tuesday

Fresh off a successful effort at the World Swimming Championships in Montreal, University of Florida senior Ryan Lochte (Daytona Beach, Fla.) and head coach Gregg Troy participated in second annual Mutual of Omaha Duel In The Pool on Tuesday.
The meet matched the best swimmers from the United States against the best from Australia at Irvine, Calif.
Lochte opened by competing in the 200-meter individual medley and finished second behind American Michael Phelps in a time of 1:57.94. The duo finished first and second at the World Championships last week and at the Olympics in Athens, Greece last summer.
In the 100-meter backstroke Lochte was edged-out by American Aaron Peirsol in a time of 54.04.
Gators head coach Gregg Troy participated as an assistant coach for the United States.
The Duel In The Pool will be televised on NBC this Saturday from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. and again on Sunday from 12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m.
