No. 20 Women's T&F Takes to Road for Weekend Competition
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 20-ranked University of Florida women's track and field team will compete Saturday, Jan. 28, at the University of New Mexico Invitational held at the ABQ Convention Center in Albuquerque, N.M. The women's weight throw is scheduled to begin the meet at 11 a.m. EST.
The Gators appeared at No. 20 in the first-ever U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association's rankings released earlier this week. Through two meets in the 2006 indoor season, the squad has met five NCAA provisional marks, with senior All-American Rachel Longfors (Erhard, Minn.) and classmate Jyn Wynn (Douglasville, Ga.) notching two apiece in the weight throw. Sophomore Candace Cabey (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) secured the first NCAA 'B' mark of her career at the Gator Invitational (1/21). Cabey jumped 12.67m/41-7 in her third attempt.
