Joakim Noah scored 24 points, Taurean Green had 21 and No. 5 Florida tied a school record Saturday with its 14th straight win, 90-72 over Georgia.

Lee Humphrey chipped in with 18 points, including nine straight at the start of the second half to break open a close game.

The Gators (14-0) already were off to the best start in school history and, in their Southeastern Conference opener, equaled the school record for most consecutive victories, which has been done two other times.

Georgia (10-4, 0-1 SEC) won more games by New Year's Day than it did all of last season, but the Bulldogs couldn't keep up with Florida for 40 minutes.

Bouncing back from an early 11-point deficit, Georgia actually surged to the lead with 12-0 run sparked by freshman Terrance Woodbury, playing for the first time since Nov. 21 after being sidelined for 10 games with a sprained knee.

But Florida simply had two many weapons for the still-rebuilding Bulldogs, whether it was Humphrey swishing shots from outside the 3-point arc, Green creating chances with his lightning-quick moves or Noah teaming with Al Horford to dominate on the inside.

The Gators seized the momentum with eight straight points late in the first half, settling for a 38-33 lead at the break. They quickly blew it open at the start of the second half.

On Florida's opening possession, Humphrey ventured inside the arc for the only time in the game. He made the shot, drew a foul on Levi Stukes and finished off the three-point play at the foul line.

On Florida's next two trips down the court, the junior guard turned to a more familiar option, slipping away from the defense to sink a pair of 3-pointers that pushed the Gators to a 47-35 lead. Georgia trailed by at least 10 points the rest of the way.

Woodbury scored 10 points in the first half, but the Gators clamped down on the freshman in the second half. He had only four points the rest of the way.

Noah went 9-of-12 from the field, several of them on thunderous dunks. Green connected three times from 3-point range, went 8-for-8 at the line and doled out five assists. Horford led the Gators with 11 rebounds. Humphrey was 5-of-10 from beyond the 3-point stripe.

Steve Newman paced the Bulldogs with 15 points, while Sundiata Gaines joined Woodbury with 14. Georgia shot just 40 percent from the field, compared with 53 percent for the Gators.

Florida returns home to face Mississippi State on Wednesday Jan. 11 at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
