The University Athletic Association has reached an agreement with Daktronics, Inc., to install four state-of-the-art video boards in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
The 12' x 16' video boards, which feature high quality, 10-millimeter resolution, as well as full-color ProAd LED panels, will be installed over the next several weeks. Officials are targeting the NCAA Volleyball Regionals on Dec. 8-9, 2006, for the debut of the boards.
“These new boards will dramatically enhance the fans' experience at Gator events,” said Jeremy Foley, director of athletics. “And while there will be some minor inconveniences during the installation period, once the project is complete, the O'Connell Center will feature some of the finest video boards in the nation.”
Fans will notice the nearly $3 million project's progress beginning in late October through the entire month of November, as the current matrix boards and scoreboards will be removed in phases to accommodate the new video boards. Additional auxiliary scoreboards will be installed in the lower level at gates 1 and 3.
In addition, fans will enjoy LED ProTables, which were used at the Final Four in Indianapolis, on the sidecourts. The ProTables will be available on the side opposite the team benches during the first phase of the project and will feature player and team statistics. By early December, there will be ProTables on both sides of the court.
